Is it good to know your future?

Is it good to know your future? Astrology questions.

Astrology is filled with techniques that help you to glimpse your future. The theory is that if you can cast a chart and see the energy that’s happening today, then there’s nothing stopping you from casting a chart to peak at tomorrow’s energy, or next week’s, or next year’s. From that, we can combine your upcoming energetic weather with your current situation and goals, and can ascertain what seems likely, and what doesn’t.

And at the centre of all this, we have to ask, “Do you WANT to know your future?” Is it actually helpful to know what’s around the corner?

Some folks prefer to be blissfully ignorant of what lies ahead. And there’s a fair argument here, because astrological anxiety is definitely a THING. If you can see something coming up, it’s easy to lose perspective and worry about it. It’s a natural human instinct.

A good astrologer (like me) never shares anything in a way that implies a fated, unavoidable event is coming. Because a good astrologer knows that nothing is ever actually set in stone. I want clients to leave my sessions feeling empowered, not worried.

And this is the key to why I think knowing the future is a GOOD thing. Knowing the future empowers you, it allows you to prepare for various stages and it gives you timelines. A person’s astrological weather forecast allows them the ability to implement strategies that work with the energy, allowing them to co-create in alignment with the energy and their life goals.

EXAMPLE - Saturn is coming to transit your Ascendant. This interpretation can indicate a serious time, with responsibilities, burdens, a sense of aging and restriction. This energy can be heavy and depressive, especially if you’re not expecting it. Suddenly you’re burdened at work when a colleague quits, an ankle sprain restricts movement and requires expensive physio. You feel old, tired and depressed.

But here’s the thing. If you knew a year or two out that this influence was coming up then you could prepare. You could forecast a time of seriousness, responsibility and maturity. And you could plan your year to suit, accepting and leaning into those themes. You could decide to apply for a promotion. Or take yourself seriously and start your own business. You could commit to an exercise routine that strengthens your body. Finding a new therapist or strategy would be prudent to fend off any potential bout of depression. Saturn on your Ascendant is always going to be hard work. But it’s possible to power through this influence, building a new level of maturity and success.

ANOTHER EXAMPLE - Jupiter is forming excellent angles to your Sun by both transit and progression. This interpretation is for confidence, luck, expanding horizons and opportunity. If you don’t expect it, you still might be pleasantly surprised when you win $1000 on a scratchie. If you DO expect it, then you might have put your art portfolio together, ready to find a gallery to represent you. Or you might have planned an overseas jaunt that is guaranteed to be a trip of a lifetime.

The Astrology will happen to you, whether you know about it, or not. But when you choose to know about it, you can co-create WITH the influences, milking the best options out of every single life stage.
