The astrology of financial market slumps

It’s been a financial market disaster since Trump’s ‘Liberation Day’. So what does the astrology say?

Today in particular illustrates an interesting short term influence - Mercury, the planet of ‘wheelings and dealings’ is stationing after its regular 3 week retrograde. Market drops seem to occur often at Mercury stations, in a statistically significant way. Venus, another planet that rules money and finance is also still retrograde (until Apr 13), and is travelling closely alongside the tricky Mercury. They’re both with Saturn, the sober planet of reality checks, and all three sit with the North Node - an axis that is often triggered when you look back at times of financial crisis. It’s also interesting to note that this is all happening close to where the problematic March 14 eclipse took place at 23 degrees Pisces.

This configuration is tight over the next couple of days, and Venus and Saturn do stick together until late April. Generally though these planets illustrate a shorter term influence as both Venus and Mercury are quick moving planets.

So should you be diving into the market? Is it time to buy? Well, that’s your call entirely, however I do think it's very possible that there’s more adjustment to come. Keeping in mind that this quicker influence is taking place within a year of massive BIG long term planetary shifts and influences. There’s a sense that the entire system is being reshaped throughout 2025 and 2026 and we’re only in April.

It’s a nice illustration of how the quick inner planets can ‘trigger’ more substantial outer planets shifts, bringing times of crisis. It's a particularly bumpy few days on the stockmarket, but it will settle down.

And as for Trumps’ tariff plan? He launched it with both Mercury and Venus retrograde, just after an eclipse and with Neptune moving into Aries. It’s a crazy plan that matches the crazy energy, but we can expect him needing to revisit, reconsider and re-evaluate what he’s done in the future. If only he was a bit more Ronald Reagan, who had an astrologer on call, electing times and dates for all his policy launches.
