Pisces New Moon

We usher in Pisces season this week and I can't help but think of the Harvard study of Adult Development that followed participants for 80 years in order to unlock the secrets to long term happiness.

What do we need for a happy life? Well, there are some material things like exercise and diet but mostly we require intangible qualities - all the types of traits that astrologers would associate with Pisces. The most important factor for a happy life? CONNECTION. Connection to others, via relationships. Connection to the self, via meditation (or meditative type activities). Connection to broader meaning, via religion and faith.

ALL of these activities are Piscean and it’s worth contemplating your happiness, beliefs and sense of purpose during the New Moon on Monday night (6.05pm AEDT).

In Sydney, this is a 7th house moment - putting the focus onto partnerships. So turn the TV off and turn to face your favourite person. Look into their eyes and connect. It’s surprising how rarely we do this.

If you’re looking for more connection in the world, this is a lovely time to throw some intentions out there. Settle into the Pisces energy and daydream. Imagine the scenario you’re wanting - New friends? A partnership? More time with yourself? Let your imagination flesh out the details and draw the picture of what you’re after. Release that out to the universe and see what happens.

Saturn is sitting near this New Moon, closing in on Pisces, ready to shake things up in a couple of weeks. This planet of responsibility and constraint gets a bad wrap, but it is an essential tool when it comes to creating something with substance. “Use your Saturn!” I say to my teenagers, when they’re slacking off and being a bit crap. And this Moon cycle encourages all of us to use our Saturns - have a think about what YOU can commit to now that will contribute towards the goals you want to reach.

If you have your astrology birth chart, find the house where Pisces begins. This is the area where you can have a ‘restart’ moment. For me, this is right on my Ascendent, which is perfect timing as I put the finishing touches to my new office space in Newport. I’ll be basing my consults out of here within a week or so. But of course, you can always chat with me on Zoom, which is nearly as good.

Ultimately, this week is about understanding what you need for your own personal happiness and putting the structures in place that will help you experience that on a daily basis. Enjoy!
