The astrology of 2025 is huge

2025 is shaping up to be a transformative year with a cascade of planetary shifts. While one planetary transition is significant, experiencing multiple shifts all at once is monumental. As an astrologer, I’m working to piece together how these astrological influences will collectively reshape our world.

At the end of 2024, we saw Pluto move into Aquarius, where it will remain for the next 20 years. In 2025, we’ll see further shifts as Jupiter, Saturn, the Nodal Axis, Uranus, and Neptune all change signs. Each of these transitions deserves its own exploration – nuanced and multifaceted as they are. But because these planets are also aligning and exchanging energy, we must examine them not only individually but also as a unified narrative. Between January 1 and December 31, 2025, we’ll experience waves of change that will leave the world forever altered.

To make sense of it all, let’s approach this logically: breaking down each planetary event, then synthesising their collective themes and impacts. Throughout, I’ll include tips, degree placements, and key birthdates for those who may feel these shifts most strongly. Dig out your natal chart and follow along. While the dates I mention primarily reflect Sun Sign influences, check your chart to see if your Moon, Ascendant, or personal planets (Mercury, Venus or Mars) are similarly impacted.

Pluto Entered Aquarius (2024)

This major shift into Aquarius has already occurred, marking the beginning of a 20-year era. We are entering a time of technological innovation, AI, societal transformation, and power redistributing back to the people. I’ve written a heap about this already, so I won’t dwell. But it sets the scene. Already, society is moving into a new phase. The influences of the other planets will layer on top of this.

Most Impacted:

  • 0°–4° Aquarius: People born January 20–27

  • Also feeling it: 0°–4° Leo, Taurus, Scorpio (July 23–28, April 20–25, October 24–29)

How it Manifests:

  • You may feel intense pressure as circumstances shift and long-hidden truths come to light. Repressed issues may demand resolution, forcing you to confront themes of power, control, and transformation.

What You Should Do:

  • Be courageous. Dive into life's challenges and explore the uncomfortable parts of yourself and others. Honest self-reflection and transformation will empower you. Resist the urge to fight this process – it’s here to help you evolve. Think of Sandy in Grease, going from innocent girl to leather-clad goddess – she fainted from the pain of having her ears pierced, but seemed pretty triumphant at the end of her transformation.

The Nodal Shift: North Node into Pisces, South Node into Virgo

Late January

The Moon’s Nodes, which dictate the Zodiac placement of eclipses, shift from Aries/Libra to Pisces/Virgo. These “fate points” often indicate dramatic life changes. Eclipses, which align with the Nodes, act as wildcards that speed up endings and new beginnings. These are 19 year cycles. Reflect on your life in 2006 – what happened to you then? Similar themes may re-emerge as the Nodes return to these same placements and eclipses repeat.

Collectively, this shift invites more compassion, intuition, and release (Pisces) while encouraging us to let go of outdated habits and systems (Virgo). On a personal level, look to the Pisces house in your natal chart to identify areas for growth and to the Virgo house for areas that need clearing or refinement.

Most Impacted:

  • People born around March 6, 14, 20, 30 or September 8, 16, 22, October 3.

What You Should Do:

  • Keep an open mind and trust the process. Eclipses often bring sudden, uncontrollable events – any losses during this time are purposeful – they create space for future growth.

Neptune moves into Aries

March 30–October 23, then again January 2026–2038

In the same way that Pluto took 18 months of shifting back and forth to/from Capricorn before settling into Aquarius, Neptune now begins its transition phase between Pisces and Aries. Symbolically this is the end/start point of the zodiac and placements here can be tricky. 29° Pisces is the ultimate in release, giving, compassion, merging and 0° Aries is the bold area of selfhood, individualism and raw instinct.

Neptune is about the unseen, mystical parts of life such as music, spirituality, love, compassion, glamour, mystery, deception and the ‘unreal’. It’s hard to define, yet easy to spot when making a transit in a natal chart - you’ll note the tone of confusion and vagueness descending. It’s a great time for creativity and spiritual exploration and an awful time for nailing down details and being sure about things.

For strong Aries-types, this could be tough. We can view it in a few ways - 1. Neptune’s floaty vibe softens Aries. 2. Neptune undermines Aries’ strength. 3. Neptune concerns will take on an Aries slant. What do I mean? Well, strong Aries people may feel more empathetic than usual. They may experience self-doubt, which is unsettling for them.

As a collective we may seek strong leaders to guide us on spiritual journeys. Expect to see ‘saviour’ type figures and strong personalities emerging. Be wary of false gods. Shifting out of Pisces, us astrology lovers may experience push back as the recent love of holistic ‘vibes’ comes to an end.

Neptune can also dictate trends in colour, fashion, music, books and movies. We’re finally at the end of the neutral tones and boring grey, grey, grey, beige, grey vibes that have been around since 2011.

Pisces and Neptune both show up strongly with addictions - I’m hoping that this shift to Aries helps us all regain control of our screens. Endless ‘doom scrolling’ may lose its appeal.

Most Impacted:

  • 27° Pisces–3° Aries: People born March 18–25

  • Also feeling it: September 20–26, December 19–25, June 18–25

How it Manifests:

  • You may feel lost, less directed, or more prone to self-doubt. Your perception of reality may blur, making this a time to embrace creativity, spirituality and compassion while avoiding scams or escapism. There may be a sense of your world dissolving around you.

What You Should Do:

  • Explore artistic and spiritual pursuits such as meditation, yoga, or sound healing. Lean into your creativity, but stay grounded and mindful of practical details.

  • Note that these same areas of the Zodiac are also impacted by Saturn, below.

March/April Eclipses

March 14 (Lunar Eclipse, 23° Pisces)
March 29 (Solar Eclipse, 9° Aries)

These eclipses will emphasise clarity and endings, particularly for those with placements from 22° Pisces to 10° Aries. Venus retrograde adds a layer of tension in relationships, making this a time for reevaluating connections.

Most Impacted:

  • Born March 13–30 or September 15–October 4

Saturn in Aries

May 25–September 2, then again February 2026–April 2028

Saturn and Neptune are combining in an odd little dance from now through until 2026. Both are at the critical ‘Aries Degree’ - the symbolic start of the Zodiac. They flirt in late Pisces and Aries in 2025, but don’t meet exactly until 2026. Neptune is the free spirited hippy, dancing in the forest and Saturn is the disciplined business person in a crisp suit. Together they’re awkward. The last time they met was 1989 - a year when Communism fell and the modern internet started. This conjunction highlights a tension between dreams (Neptune) and discipline (Saturn). I’ve already written about how Saturn and Neptune are impacting us here. This combination can manifest as confusion but also as the restructuring of ideals into concrete systems.

Most Impacted:

  • 14° Pisces–4° Aries: People born March 5–26

  • Saturn Returns for people born: 1995/96, 1966/67, 1937/38

What You Should Do:

  • Expect increased responsibilities and obligations. Work hard, but also prioritise rest and self-care. Life may seem more confusing than usual. Try to relax into it – this is a time for maturation and learning to balance ambition with patience.

Jupiter in Cancer

10 June

Jupiter‘s shift into Cancer is great news for people with placements in the sigb of the crab - in the following 12 months you can expect some Jupiter largess in your life. Jupiter in Gemini (since May 2024) has increased the mental chatter and ‘busyness’ of life. It’s been a hectic 12 months. With this ingress, we may see a shift of emphasis to people seeking sanctuary within the safe bonds of family and loved ones. This is gather-round-the-dinner-table territory and let-me-tell-you-a-story-of-when-I-was-a-girl. There’s a space made for traditions and new faith put into emotional connections. It’s hygge, cuddles and candles.

Most Impacted:

  • Cancerians.

  • Also feeling it: Scorpio and Pisces.

  • All of us may feel more confident and blessed around the topics of the Cancer-ruled house of our natal chart.

What You Should Do:

  • Use the increase in confidence to be bold around topics of your Cancer-ruled house.

Uranus in Gemini

8 July - 9 November, then again from April 2026 - May 2033

If you’ve got a chart full of Taurus placements then you can breathe a sigh of relief later this year, as Uranus shifts out of this sign after seven years of causing havoc. This is the planet of change, restlessness and liberation. It brings rebellion and the urge to shake things up. In the fixed sign of Taurus, this has been an awkward combination.

Moving into Gemini, Uranian energy can work more freely. Progressive ideas can be explored and discussed. Fresh thinking around technology, communication and short distance travel could be in the spotlight. This is a new era for transport. Expect breakthroughs with drone technology, space developments, computing and storytelling. This is perfect for AI companions and augmented reality. But it’s also unsettled and agitated energy, with little discipline or control.

Audacious technological leaps are likely, whether we’re ready for them or not (and whether they’re tested out or not). Historically under this influence there is a history of warfare, perhaps due to hot-headed responses and insurgent, uncontrollable energy. This is one to watch and the unpredictable energy is… hard to predict, which makes my job tricky.

Most Impacted:

  • 23º Taurus - 2º Gemini. People born May 13-24.

  • Also feeling it: People born Jan 12-22, Aug 15-25, Nov 16-24.

How it manifests:

  • This is wild-card energy. You can all expect ants in your pants and an intense urge to ‘liberate’ yourself from ruts and commitments. Insomnia and anxiety can take hold. It will pass, but help from your GP may be useful in the short term.

What You Should Do:

  • This transit demands change. Lean in and do things differently. Rearrange furniture. Swap hands to brush your teeth or wipe your bum. Go travelling. Get a new job. Enter counselling with your partner. Take up a new hobby. Get a makeover. Eradicate ruts.

September Eclipses

September 8 (Lunar Eclipse, 15° Pisces)
September 22 (Solar Eclipse, 29° Virgo)

Two more eclipses round off the eventful mid-year. All of us can look to the Pisces/Virgo axis and expect to have life shaken up a little in these houses and the corresponding topic areas.

Most Impacted:

  • Born September 4-26 or March 3–23

How it all fits together

It’s worth noting that none of the influences I’ve discussed so far are happening in isolation. As you can see from this diagram, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto have strong blue lines linking them - these are sextiles and trines - easy flows and interchanges of energy. From their new signs, these planets are going to link up and share their discoveries. Every planetary shift is going to impact all the others. You can see here that the Solar Eclipse on Sep 22 forms a kite configuration and gives all of these new placements a big fat zap. This is a critical date that we need to keep an eye on.

Major Themes for 2025

  • Everything is changing. In a groundswell type of way that picks you up and sweeps you along with it. It will seem ‘right’ to change our minds, to reassess things, to start using new technologies and to reconsider parts of life that we’ve always taken for granted. 2025 is just the dawn of this, but the message is to go with it. Don’t dig in and resist, hoping for a return to the past. We’re done with mass capitalism, consumerism and the worship of the dollar. Our priorities are shifting. Seeds are being planted. It’s natural to feel apprehensive in the face of change, but remember that history reads dramatically, but actually events take years to unfold. We’ll all have time to integrate our new ideas and hours to pour over our personal drone transportation manual. We’ll adapt and we’re going to be ok.

  • An elemental shift in our priorities. The outer planets are moving from Earth and Water into Air and Fire. This is more yang, and versatile, but less stable and more combustible. The next few years seem loaded with the potential for regrettable words and flaring tempers, but also fresh ideas and innovation. I hope I’m wrong, but on a world level, major conflict is possible.

  • Leadership is critical. It’s hard to see, with Trump in power, but new leaders are going to come through and play major roles in how events unfold. There are varying indicators around whether they’ll be dictating benevolence or benevolent dictators. Perhaps both. We’re likely to witness some inspired communication. People will be seeking strength, but the leaders will need to capture the essence and needs of the people to be successful.

  • Technology is everything. We’re ready for the next round of discoveries that push us into the future as a population. I suspect that we’re in for some severe climate events that trigger us to urgently pursue fixes, in the same way we did during Covid. Will it be the return of autocratic governments forcing change on us? It could be, but there’s the sense that we’ll be following charismatic leadership in a fairly willing way.

  • Finding comfort in roots. There’s disruptions coming. In turbulent times, reconnecting with family and friends can provide much-needed grounding and stability. We may turn back to primal bonds for support, comfort and grounding.

  • We’re going to be ok. The next couple of years look exciting. I strongly believe that humanity will ultimately benefit from whatever comes our way. Often, big planetary shifts like this may coincide with major events, but often it’s the smaller seeds that get planted that will produce the major stories long term. Keep your eyes open and watch the emergence and growth of the next stage of society. It’s gonna be great to watch.

How Will It Impact You?
